The Armstrong Air and Space Museum Association is currently seeking applicants for the following position:

Exhibits Technician

Summary of Duties:          

Full-time position responsible for maintaining existing exhibits, improving or updating existing exhibits, designing and building new exhibit elements for the current Armstrong Air & Space Museum, and developing exhibit concepts for the museum expansion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support exhibit maintenance and repair needs. Where possible, effect immediate repairs, and assess the need for changes in design or materials. When required, acquire parts, equipment, or external expertise to assist in making repairs.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to determine route cause of issue and recommend a corrective action.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate preventative maintenance programs for exhibits.
  • Construct and install museum exhibit structures and other elements using a range of materials and tools/equipment. Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of power tools and workshop equipment: nail gun, table saw, skill saw, router, etc.
  • Respond to daily calls from other staff for assistance with exhibit related maintenance issues.
  • Recognize failures and set up problems, isolates problems, and takes appropriate actions to resolve those problems.
  • Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Provide support for Ohio History Connection exhibit staff and outside firms in the installation of new exhibits.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, OHC staff, and other stakeholders to develop exhibits for the Museum’s expansion projects.
  • Utilize mechanical drawings, schematics, and product manuals towards repair and maintenance of exhibit components.
  • Maintain inventory of building materials, tools/equipment and exhibit consumables, and order supplies as needed.
  • Maintain exhibit maintenance records according to manufacturer’s warranty requirements.
  • Participate in project teams and provide technical and creative advice and support.
  • As required, assist with set-up and strike for special events and rental functions.

The museum also is seeking students and young professionals for internship opportunities. Internships will be crafted to meet the needs of both the museum and the intern. Currently, the museum is interested in marketing, special events, and education interns.

Education Intern

Summary of Duties:           

Responsible professional position that requires a person capable of collaborating with museum educators to develop and deliver programs and activities of the Museum that involve communication of information to the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists to implement educational programming, including summer camps, special events, and overnight activities.
  • Conducts interpretive tours.
  • Collaborates with other Museum staff and teachers in the development of resources for the classroom.
  • Collaboratively develops, researches, and writes materials for use in site interpretation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Marketing Intern

Summary of Duties: 

Promotes the museum and its activities to the general public through the website, on social media, and to the local and national media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft media releases for special events and media-worthly happenings at or related to the Museum.
  • Develop or expand museum's pressence on social media platforms, including developing platforms.
